A parent once described Little Shepherd's Nursery School as the
"best kept secret in the Santa Clarita Valley". Many others have shared the same sentiments as they have found their way to the oldest preschool in our valley, with its well equipped classrooms, large grassy playground and sand area, slides and swings, all under the protective shade of majestic trees. Parents who once attended Little Shepherd's are now enrolling their children.

Our purpose has always been to provide an atmosphere that helps young children develop good feelings about themselves as a basis for loving others. We have been part of the ministry of the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall for 42 years. Our emphasis is God as creator as shown in the world around us. We are a developmental preschool with goals that are appropriate for children 2-1/2 through 5 years of age.

Our staff is qualified with both experience and education in Early Childhood Education as required by the California Department of Social Services.

Classes are offered two or three days a week with five days offered for 4 and 5 year olds. Classes are from 9 a.m. to 12 noon with Extended Care offered as needed until 3 p.m.. Class sizes vary from 8 to 12 children with a teacher and an aide.

Classroom activities include freeplay, dialogue using books and dramatic play. Art activities vary with the seasons using various types of media. Music is an important part of every day. At the end of the school year a "ME BOOK" goes home with each child with a collection of art and descriptions of the years activities.
